Feeding and nourishing others is central to my practice— creating a safe and pleasant environment for others to relax, connect, and be inspired over healing teas, nourishing food, and good music. I host at my apartment regularly, opening my doors as a third space. I spend my own resources on hospitality, but am looking for more external support to be able to consistently provide an accessible and healing space for my community. Creating ease and building connection in a city like New York is essential for our spirits to remain in tact.
My technical and professional background is in software development and engineering. I believe in technology as a powerful tool for the advancement of social progress in a mindful, interconnected way. My primary interest is in learning to use technology as a means to resist the hyper-surveillance, control, and misuse of power within our society. I want to continue to educate myself on techno-sovereignty, and am currently seeking grants to study ways to set up local question-answer AI models in accessible ways, with the aim to educate people and communities to do the same for themselves. This allows information to exist at a community level and prevents giving all of our information and mental insights to large organizations, where it is susceptible to being manipulated or utilized for purposes not aligned with our will.
I believe studying technological sovereignty is essential for building a new and more just society. As political tensions continue to rise, there is a strong movement towards building communities that are more independent from the central government, creating our own systems of education, healthcare, interconnection and care. To follow this direction, our technology needs to evolve into less centralized systems of information. As opposed to topics like healthcare and education, technological skills are not handed down from older generations, so it lies on my generation to take it into their hands to learn the necessary skills for technological sovereignty and educate our communities.
